A BlurMe alternative that never uploads your video
BlurMe and Shycut both find faces and license plates automatically and hide them. The difference is where it happens: BlurMe processes video on its servers and charges credits per second, while Shycut does the work in your browser, for free.
- Nothing uploaded

When BlurMe is the better choice
If you need to redact photos as well as videos, or your organisation wants an enterprise contract with an on-premises deployment, BlurMe offers both. Its tool is focused entirely on redaction.
If your company already has a BlurMe plan for this kind of work, it may fit your existing process better.
When Shycut is the better choice
If you want automatic face and plate blur on a whole video without paying per second or stopping at ten seconds, Shycut does it for free, with no watermark, and the footage you are trying to protect never leaves your device.
Because it is a full clean-up tool, the same export can also cut silences, add captions, resize for Reels, TikTok or Shorts and balance the sound, so you go from raw clip to ready-to-post in one place.
Questions
Is Shycut’s face blur really automatic?
Yes, after one tap. Tap “Search” next to faces or plates, and everything found is hidden and followed through the video until you tap to reveal it.
Is there a length limit?
No limit set by a server, because nothing is uploaded. Videos up to about an hour work well; long ones are fastest on a computer.
Can Shycut blur photos?
Not at the moment. Shycut hides faces and plates in videos (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV); a picture can go on top of a video, but it is not scanned.
Which is more private?
Both describe protecting your files. The difference is structural: Shycut never receives the video at all, so there is no copy on any server to protect or delete.
Your video stays with you.
Open Shycut, drop the video in and export. Free, with no account, and your video never leaves your device.
