When CapCut is the better choice

If you build videos from templates, layer effects, transitions and stock music, or edit on a full multi-track timeline, CapCut is made for that and Shycut is not. Its mobile apps are also a natural fit if you shoot and edit entirely on your phone and like trending templates.

CapCut’s desktop app can edit offline, so if you are comfortable with its terms and need a full editor, it remains a strong, widely used option.

When Shycut is the better choice

If your footage shows people who didn’t agree to be filmed, number plates, your home or your children, Shycut finds and hides them with a tap, and the video never leaves your device on the way. There is no account to create and no licence to grant.

It also covers the busywork around a clip: silence and “um” cutting, cutting by text, captions written on your device, resizing for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, joining clips, your own music, balanced sound and wind reduction. Then you can still finish the video in any editor you like, CapCut included.

Questions

Is Shycut a full replacement for CapCut?

No. Shycut focuses on privacy and the quick jobs before posting: hiding faces and plates, cutting silences, captions, resizing and sound. It can join clips and put your own videos, pictures and music on top, but it has no templates, effects or transitions.

Can I use both?

Yes. Many people hide faces and plates in Shycut first, export the MP4, and then add effects or transitions in another editor. Shycut’s export is a normal H.264 MP4.

Does Shycut add a watermark like some CapCut templates?

No. Shycut never adds a watermark, has no paid plan and needs no account.

Why does it matter where the video is processed?

When a video is uploaded, a copy exists on someone else’s servers and is covered by their terms. When it is processed on your device, there is no copy to store, share or license.
