Add subtitles to LinkedIn videos
LinkedIn’s closed captions come from an SRT file you attach in the share box on a computer. Shycut writes that file from your video, on your device, and can burn the same words into the picture.

Two kinds of captions
- Burned in
- Shycut draws the captions into the picture, so they show wherever the video plays, with or without the viewer’s settings.
- A subtitle file
- LinkedIn shows closed captions from an SRT file you attach when posting. Shycut writes that file from the same transcript: Captions tab, Download SRT.
- Both, from one transcript
- Correct a line once and both the burned-in captions and the SRT file follow.

A file for LinkedIn, words for everywhere else
LinkedIn needs the SRT file attached before the video is posted, and only from the desktop share box. Make the file first: transcribe the video in Shycut, fix the lines, and download the SRT next to the video.
If the video will be shared beyond LinkedIn, burned-in captions go with it everywhere. Shycut keeps both in step: correct a line once and the file and the picture agree.
How to do it in Shycut
Open your video
The button opens Shycut set up for LinkedIn: the frame, the length check, and captions written as it opens.
Check the captions
The speech is written down on your device (the model downloads once; on mobile data it waits for your tap). Fix any word in the Captions tab.
Pick a look and save
Choose one of four caption styles, check the frame, and save. Nothing is uploaded.

Questions
What subtitle file does LinkedIn take?
An SRT (SubRip Subtitle) file, attached to the video before it is posted, according to LinkedIn’s help.
Can I add captions from the LinkedIn mobile app?
LinkedIn says closed captions are added using the desktop experience. Burned-in captions need nothing from LinkedIn: they are part of the picture.
Does Shycut upload my video to write the SRT?
No. The speech is transcribed in your browser and the SRT is written there too.
