GoPro HERO12 GPS overlay
There is no GPS in a HERO12 Black: GoPro’s own documentation says it has no GPS receiver. So there is nothing in the file to draw a speed gauge from, in Shycut or anywhere else.

What a HERO12 Black records
What Shycut draws from it
- No gauge
- Shycut works speed, altitude, lean angle and g-force all out of the GPS track, so footage without GPS has nothing to draw from.
- Everything else still works
- Wind removed, faces and licence plates found and hidden, chapters joined, silences cut: the ride recipe does all of it without GPS.
- For a gauge
- A camera that records GPS is needed; GoPro says it returns with the HERO13.
No receiver, no speed
GoPro removed both GPS formats from the HERO12, and brought GPS9 back with the HERO13. Footage from a HERO12 carries no position, so neither speed nor the route can be read from it.
Shycut works lean angle and g-force out of the GPS track as well, so a HERO12 file gets no gauge at all. The rest of a ride edit works the same: wind noise removed, faces and plates hidden, chapters joined.

Questions
Does the GoPro HERO12 have GPS?
No. GoPro’s documentation says there is no GPS receiver in the HERO12.
Can I add a speed overlay to HERO12 footage?
Not from the camera’s own data: it records no speed or position. Shycut can still remove wind, hide faces and plates, and join chapters.
Which GoPro records GPS again?
The HERO13 Black: GoPro says GPS returns with it, in the GPS9 format.
