DJI Osmo Pocket 3 recording time

At its highest bitrate, 130 Mbps, a 128 GB card holds at least 2 hours 11 minutes on the Osmo Pocket 3, and a 256 GB card at least 4 hours 22 minutes. Below: every card up to 1 TB, and how long one battery runs.

How long the Osmo Pocket 3 records

128 GBAt least 2 h 11 min
256 GBAt least 4 h 22 min

1 TBAt least 17 h 5 min

DJI gives only the camera’s highest bitrate, so these are the shortest times: every other mode uses fewer bits and records longer.

The list stops at 1 TB, the largest card DJI says the camera takes. Cards are counted as their makers count them (1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes) and keep a little room for themselves.

How long can the Osmo Pocket 3 record?

The card
A 128 GB card holds at least 2 hours 11 minutes at the highest bitrate; the table above has every size.
The battery
DJI rates one battery at 166 minutes (2 hours 46 minutes), measured at 1080p and 24 fps with Wi-Fi and the screen off: the best case, so plan for less.
Whichever comes first
A long take stops at the shorter of the two. A bigger card doesn’t help once the battery is the limit; a power bank or a spare battery does.

Long takes on a pocket camera

Vlogs and walk-and-talk videos run long, and the Pocket 3 has no storage of its own, DJI says. A 1 TB card, the largest it takes, holds at least 17 hours 5 minutes at the highest bitrate, far more than one battery runs.

A 256 GB card covers at least 4 hours 22 minutes. When it is time to edit, Shycut cuts the silences out of a long talking clip and joins takes, on your own device.

Questions

How long can the Osmo Pocket 3 record?

Two limits apply. A 128 GB card holds at least 2 hours 11 minutes at the highest bitrate (130 Mbps), and DJI rates one battery at 166 minutes, tested at 1080p/24fps with Wi-Fi and the screen off.

How long does a 128 GB card last on the Osmo Pocket 3?

At least 2 hours 11 minutes at its highest bitrate (130 Mbps); a 256 GB card at least 4 hours 22 minutes. Lower modes record longer.

What is the Osmo Pocket 3’s bitrate?

Up to 130 Mbps, by DJI’s spec page: about 58.5 GB an hour.

Does the Pocket 3 have built-in storage?

No: DJI says it has none, and storage comes from a microSD card of up to 1 TB.
