What fits in 10 MB
| Picture | At full quality | Longest that fits |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 13 s | 29 s |
| 720p | 29 s | 1 min 2 s |
| 540p | 50 s | 1 min 42 s |
| 480p | 1 min 2 s | 2 min 10 s |
| 360p | 1 min 42 s | 3 min 26 s |
Shycut’s own sums for a 16:9 video at 30 frames a second with sound, at Balanced quality. “Full quality” keeps the bitrate Balanced would use anyway; past “longest that fits”, Shycut makes the picture smaller instead of letting it break up. An upright video fits the same.
Your video, by length
| Length | Comes out as |
|---|---|
| 30 s | 720p, 2,432 kbps for the picture |
| 1 min | 720p, 1,152 kbps for the picture |
| 3 min | 360p, 331 kbps for the picture |
| 10 min | Too long: up to 3 min 26 s fits |
For a 1080p video at 30 frames a second with sound. The save window does the same sum for your own video before anything is made.
What 10 MB does to a video
Shycut’s own test, on 24 October 2026: a minute of deliberately noisy 1080p, hard to compress on purpose, was asked to fit 10 MB. It came out at 9.24 MB, stepped down to 720p, and played back cleanly.
Noisy footage like that is the worst case; calm footage keeps more detail at the same size. If a file still comes out over, Shycut makes it once more at a bitrate corrected by how far it overshot.
How it works
Open your video
Press the button and drop the file, or pick it from your files. It opens in this browser tab; nothing is uploaded, so the original can be as large as you like.
10 MB is already set
The save window opens set to an MP4 under that size. Shycut works out the bitrate from your video’s length and shows what it will do before you save.
Save
If the video can’t fit at its own size, the picture steps down (1080p, 720p…) and the window says so. If nothing fits, it tells you how long a clip does, so you can trim first.
Questions
Will the file really be under 10 MB?
That is what Shycut checks: it aims a little under, and if the encoder runs over anyway it makes the file again, smaller. The test above came out at 9.24 MB.
Why did my video become 720p?
Below a picture-quality floor, a smaller picture looks better than a starved large one, so Shycut steps down (1080p, 720p, 540p, 480p, 360p) and says so.
Is 10 MB enough for a minute of video?
Yes, at a reduced picture size; the tables above show which size and how much longer it could run.
